Public Comments Volunteer tax preparation clinics are generally offered between February and April each year, but some may operate on a year-round basis.
Description (Service) Hosts tax preparation clinics where volunteers prepare income tax and benefit returns for those who have a modest income and simple tax situation

Areas Served Algoma District ; Cochrane District ; Kenora District ; Manitoulin District ; Nipissing District ; Rainy River District ; Sudbury District ; Thunder Bay District ; Timiskaming District
Eligibility
  • Income must not exceed $30,000 for a single person 
  • Income must not exceed $40,000 for a couple 
  • Income must not exceed $35,000 for 1 adult and 1 dependent 
  • An additional $2,500 is added to the above for each additional dependent 
  • Interest income must not exceed $1,000
 
Volunteers do not complete returns for complex situations such as: 
  • Returns for deceased persons; 
  • Individuals who file for bankruptcy; 
  • Self-employed individuals; 
  • Individuals who report capital gains or losses; 
  • Individuals who report employment expenses, or business or rental income and expenses
