Description (Service) Provides advisory and support services to member First Nations as related to mining and exploration activities in the region to ensure First Nations are dealt with fairly 
  • Works to help members better understand the mining industry and the Ontario Mining Act 
  • Ensures the First Nations who may be affected by proposed activity are included in the formal notice and consultation process as required by the Ontario Mining Act 
  • Assists member communities to review and comment on information regarding exploration projects 
  • Provides guidance during the early exploration stages of mining development referred as the Plans and Permit process  
  • Facilitates economic growth opportunities and capacity development initiatives 
  • Ensures the exploration and mining industries act responsibly
