Description (Service)
  • Provides an opt-in proposal-based program for First Nation schools (K-Gr 12) to develop and implement the interrelated components which include school success plans, student learning assessments and performance measurements 
  • These components assist community educators to address and improve the areas of literacy, numeracy and student retention
 
School Success Plan 
  • Consists of a 3-year plan for each school to determine changes needed to improve student achievement levels 
  • Offers initial assessment and planning during the first year by Nokiiwin, then further development, assessment and reporting is carried out by each community's educators 
  • Creates the plan from information gathered through student information systems, school surveys, student learning assessment results and evaluations
 
Student Learning Assessments 
  • Assesses the academic performance and progress of students through various tests 
  • Uses the results to set school priorities and to monitor and plan student achievement and progress
 
Performance Measurement 
  • Collects data (daily records, grades, attendance, test results) on student and school performance 
  • Allows schools to set targets, monitor results and report to parents and communities on student progress

Eligibility Must belong to one of the member First Nations in the Robinson-Superior Treaty area served by Nokiiwin Tribal Council
 
Schools include: 
  • Spirit Bay School, Biinjitiwaabik Zaaging Anishinaabek 
  • Netamisakomik Centre for Education, Pic Mobert First Nation 
  • Pic River Elementary, Pic River First Nation 
  • St Kateri Tekawitha, Kiashke Zaaging Anishinaabek
Application Services are delivered at the local level within each community's schools
