Description (Service)
  • Provides educational services and supports to elementary and secondary school students living on reserve  
  • Promotes the combination of traditional cultural values and programs with contemporary academic requirements  
  • Receives support and assistance from Matawa First Nations Management Tribal Council, Education Authority in developing and delivering the education program and system in the community  
  • Administers the on-reserve Migizi Wazisin Elementary School 
  • Administers the on-reserve Eagle Feather Migizi Miigwanan Secondary School 
  • Coordinates bus transportation to students attending both schools 
  • On Jan 20, 2017, Long Lake 58 First Nation passed the Anishinabek Education System (AES) and the Draft Constitution toi make the community part of the 22 First Nations who are asserting jurisdiction over their own education
