Description (Service) Provides services that promote physical and mental health for community members 
  • Provides health awareness, education and prevention workshops and seminars  
  • Coordinates clinics in areas that may include Diabetes, Immunization, Sexual Health and Communicable Diseases 
  • Offers prenatal and postpartum health care  
  • Offers wellness groups for men and women  
  • Provides smoking cessation programs and counselling 
  • Provides traditional ceremonies for health issues, information about traditional herbs and medicines and consultations with traditional healers
 
Addresses individual health care needs by providing: 
  • Intake services to determine health care needs of individual  
  • Referrals to appropriate health care providers based on information in the intake assessment 
  • Advocacy on behalf of individual with other health professionals  
  • Education and information about Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) and Fetal Alcohol Effects (FAE) 
  • Home visits to the sick, elderly, new mothers and persons with health care needs 
  • Mental health counselling, case management and referrals to other service providers and programs 
  • Assistance with coordinating local and long distance travel arrangements for medical appointments
 
Oversees the following programs: 
  • Aboriginal Healthy Babies Healthy Children 
  • Community Health Program  
  • Family Crisis Shelter 
  • Home and Community Care Program  
  • Medical Transportation  
  • National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program (NNADAP) 
  • Non-Insured Health Benefits
