Description (Service)
  • Assists individuals to buy, repair and maintain a wide variety of mobility or assistive equipment (including wheelchairs) 
  • Provides contact information or resources to help individuals find alternate funding sources, if available 
  • Assist with obtaining funding from local service groups through partnerships with other organizations
Funding is provided for devices that: 
  • Help adults live safely and independently in their homes 
  • Allow for discharge from a hospital or rehabilitation centre 
  • Help avoid job loss 
  • Support opportunities for participation in educational, developmental and community activities
Hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm
Areas Served Thunder Bay
Eligibility Ages: 19 year(s) and up 
  • Must have an ongoing physical limitation that requires the use of an assistive device 
  • Must meet the income requirements
Devices not eligible for funding 
  • Hearing aids/vision aids 
  • Urinary/ostomy/colostomy supplies 
  • Prosthetic devices 
  • Computers, except as part of Augmentative Communications Aid for face-to-face 
    communication devices for non-verbal adults or environmental controls 
  • Devices for exercise purposes 
  • Devices for treatment or prevention purposes (e.g. bath lift/lift chairs for the sole purpose 
    of relieving swelling or managing pain) 
  • Foot Orthotics other than part of an ankle foot orthosis, knee ankle foot orthosis or custom 
    molded footwear for individuals with severe foot deformities (eg. club foot or claw foot) 
  • Home renovations 
  • Special recreation and leisure devices 
  • Hospital beds and mattresses 
  • Ramps (except suitcase or threshold ramps) 
  • Lift chairs
