Public Comments
  • The objective for legitimate referrals is to provide intervention for families that will assist them in solving their own problems, so that the more intrusive services of child protection are not required

  • All child abuse investigations are conducted jointly with the police department having jurisdiction
Description (Service) Intake and Assessment 
  • Receives child protection referrals in confidence from the community 
  • Accepts allegations of child neglect and abuse 
  • Serves as general intake for all other programs and services offered
 
Child Welfare 
  • Investigates allegations of child abuse and child neglect to determine the safety of the family environment for children
 
Crisis Intervention and Counselling 
  • Provides crisis intervention and counselling 
  • Refers children or adult offenders to other commonly used services when and where needed
