Description (Service)
  • Offers support services for current patients and former patients of the Regional Cancer Centre, their families and their friends  
  • Offers confidential counselling to cancer patients and their family members at no cost 
  • Provides a registered dietitian to educate cancer patients about good nutrition and how to stay well nourished while undergoing treatment
Additional services that are offered to cancer patients may include: 
  • Stress coping strategies 
  • Quit smoking and tobacco use 
  • Arranging medical travel and accessing relevant financial resources 
  • Applying for income replacement 
  • How to claim medical expenses as a tax credit on income taxes 
  • How to deal with past losses and grief 
  • Accessing bereavement counselling for family members 
  • Accessing accommodation at Tamarack House for cancer patients who are not from Thunder Bay
