Description (Service)
  • Maintains a large database of Independent Contractors who are interested in providing respite services for families 
  • Includes general orientation and training 
  • Provides assistance for families in the recruitment, screening and matching of independent respite providers 
  • Services may involve in-home care, community-based social and/or recreational opportunities and/or skill enhancing activities according to the needs and interests of each participant and their family
Hours Office Mon-Fri 9 am-4:30 pm 
Service Mon-Sun 24 hours
Areas Served Kenora District ; Rainy River District ; Thunder Bay District
Boundaries Communities along the Highway 17 and Highway 11 corridors
Eligibility Families who are responsible for the ongoing care of a family member of any age who has a disability or chronic health condition

Languages English ; French
Fees Service ; Families are able to hire independent respite providers using funding they receive from the following sources:
 
  • Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities Program (ACSD) 
  • Special Services at Home (SSAH) 
  • Passports Funding 
  • Individualized Funding (IF) 
  • Enhanced Respite Funding 
  • Family-Directed Respite Funding (Wesway)
