Description (Service)
  • Provides financial, social and academic assistance to First Nations students continuing in post secondary education 
  • Sponsors and supports approved applicants accepted into accredited college and university programs
 
Partial or entire financial aid provided for: 
  • Books and tuition 
  • Computer hardware/software 
  • Course materials 
  • On-site tutoring 
  • Residence fees 
  • Travel and accommodation
 
Support services provided are: 
  • Academic counselling 
  • Career counselling 
  • Social counselling
Hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm
Areas Served Bearskin Lake First Nation ; Cat Lake First Nation ; Deer Lake First Nation ; Fort Severn First Nation ; Kasabonika Lake First Nation ; Keewaywin First Nation ; Kingfisher Lake First Nation ; Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug First Nation ; Koocheching First Nation ; Lac Seul First Nation ; McDowell Lake First Nation ; Mishkeegogamang First Nation ; Muskrat Dam First Nation ; North Caribou First Nation ; North Spirit Lake First Nation ; Ojibway Nation of Saugeen First Nation ; Pikangikum First Nation ; Poplar Hill First Nation ; Sachigo Lake First Nation ; Sandy Lake First Nation ; Sioux Lookout ; Thunder Bay ; Wapekeka First Nation ; Wawakapewin First Nation ; Wunnumin Lake First Nation ; 24 First Nations communities in the Sioux Lookout District including New Slate Falls
Eligibility Must be a member of one of the 24 First Nations communities in the Sioux Lookout District or Thunder Bay and continuing education at a post secondary institution
 
Each student must complete and submit: 
  • A Charter of Student Rights and Responsibilities form 
  • A Consent for Release of Information form 
  • Application for Post Secondary Assistance 
  • A letter of recommendation from the Band
 
Priority #1 is given to: 
  • Continuing successful post secondary students 
  • First-time fundable Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) graduates 
  • First-time fundable high school equivalency (GED) graduates
 
Priority #2 - #7 applicants are either wait-listed or declined support, depending on available funds
