Description (Service) Provides community health services and assistance with non-insured health benefits to eligible First Nations and Inuit people
 
Community Health Services
 
Prevention programs intended to improve the health and well being of First Nation peoples are available on the following topics: 
  • Communicable disease control 
  • Maternal and child health care programs 
  • Chronic disease monitoring 
  • Care of the elderly 
  • School health programs 
  • Environmental health
 
Non-Insured Health Benefits
 
Provides assistance with accessing and making travel arrangements for extended health benefits, including: 
  • Dental care 
  • Medical transportation 
  • Medical equipment 
  • Medications 
  • Mental health counselling 
  • Short-term crisis intervention 
  • Vision care
Hours Mon-Fri 8 am-4:15 pm
Areas Served Anishinaabeg of Naongashing First Nation ; Couchiching First Nation ; Lac La Croix First Nation ; Mishkosiminiziibiing First Nation - Big Grassy River ; Naicatchewenin First Nation ; Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nation ; Onigaming First Nation ; Rainy River First Nation ; Seine River First Nation ; Stanjikoming First Nation - Mitaanjigamiing ; Eligible clients residing in or adjacent to these communities in the Fort Frances and Rainy River area
Eligibility Must be a registered Inuit and/or First Nation individual and reside in one of the communities served by the Fort Frances Health Centre
Application
  • Health Centre operates on a walk-in basis 
  • Most services are accessed on-reserve through visiting health professionals 
  • Services may vary in each community; call Health Centre to determine available services
