Description (Service)
  • Provides educational services and supports to elementary, junior and high school students living on reserve 
  • Students attend schools in the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board and the Lakehead Public School Board 
  • Coordinates transportation arrangements and provides busing for all JK-Grade 12 students  
  • Acts as a liaison between students, schools, school boards and parents 
  • Receives support and assistance from Nokiiwin Tribal Council, Education Authority in developing and delivering the education program and system in the community
 
Post Secondary Student Support Program  
  • Provides counselling and guidance in choosing post-secondary field of studies  
  • Provides assistance for applying/filling out application forms for colleges and universities  
  • Provides financial support to post secondary students both on and off the reserve
 
Secondary Education 
  • Provides academic and social guidance/counselling to students 
  • Assists students with course registration
 
Special Education Program 
  • Transports children with special needs between school and home

Post Secondary Student Support Program  
  • Must be continuing education at a post-secondary institution 
  • Financial assistance limited by available funding
Application Post Secondary Student Support Program  
  • Applications available on website or at Band Office/Education Department 
  • Assistance available for tuition/books/living allowance up to a maximum of 4 years per student 
  • Requires new application for each year  
  • Deadline to apply for assistance for fall start date is May 29th
 
For financial assistance applicant required to provide:  
  • Photocopy of recent status card; proper verification for applicants with dependents also required  
  • Completed post-secondary application package  
  • Letter of acceptance from post-secondary institution 
  • Program description including course outline and official length of program 
  • Cost of program including tuition, books, materials and supplies  
  • Transcripts from high school and any previous academic institutions  
  • Detailed letter of intent with program information  
  • Copy of voided cheque or bank information  
  • Signed student contract
