Description (Service)
  • Ensures that support payments flow properly from the person who makes support payments to the person who receives it 
  • Receives every support order made by a court in Ontario and has legal authority to collect support payments, and enforce the amounts owed under support orders 
  • Receives domestic contracts and paternity agreements and enforces support payments owed

Application
  • Orders issued after July 1, 1987 are filed automatically with the Office of the Director of the Family Responsibility Office (FRO) 
  • Support recipient must complete the filing package that is mailed by the FRO
 
Orders issued prior to July 1, 1987 -- Applicants must obtain and complete a filing package from the Office for the order to be filed and enforced by the Director 
  • The same applies to private agreements that are filed with the courts 
  • Copies of Court Orders can be obtained from the Court that issued the Order 
  • Copies of agreements/contracts can be obtained from the Ontario Court of Justice (former Provincial Division) where it was filed, or through a client's lawyer
