  • Provides shelter for lost, abused and unwanted animals 
  • Returns lost animals to their owners 
  • Responds to complaints regarding animals in distress 
  • Offers adoption services and foster home program 
  • Offers volunteer opportunities 
  • Provides public awareness and education on the importance of having pets spayed and neutered and the need for animals to receive regular veterinary care 
  • Performs investigations for the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA) 
  • Provides animal control service to the City of Sault Ste Marie and dog licensing
