Description (Service) Operates a volunteer fire department  
  • Responsible for fire prevention and administration of the Ontario Fire Code 
  • Issues applicable burn permits required for brush piles, incinerators and open fires, excluding campfires  
  • Provides public fire safety and prevention education 
  • Participates in the Rainy River Mutual Aid Agreement among emergency responders to lend assistance across jurisdictional 
    boundaries 
  • Maintains a fire hall, pumper truck, tank truck and extrication kit with a crew of 14 firefighters
