Description (Agency) Serves as a community forum and advocacy group for seniors
Description (Service)
  • Serves as a community forum and advocacy group for seniors  
  • Addresses various issues such as long term care, doctors shortages, seniors health concerns and lack of adequate seniors housing  
  • Advocates on behalf of seniors by presenting the concerns to city council, hospital boards, government bodies and other organizations  
  • Provides occasional guest speakers such as Northwestern Health Unit representatives etc 
  • Conducts community visitation and provides fruit basket for ill seniors, bereavement in families and new families moving into town 
  • Organizes and oversees a community gardening initiative; builds and fills the planters for interested groups including local schools 
  • Hosts annual fundraisers to support seniors issues within the community such as the seniors handi-van
