Description (Service)
  • Coordinates a toy lending library and delivers programs and services in conjunction with the Aboriginal Healthy Babies Healthy Children (AHBHC) program to promote child development and to enhance the lives of both child and parent 
  • Offers daily/weekly rotating activities such as arts and crafts, baking, circle and story times, cultural activities and teachings, swimming and educational sessions on topics such as Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
 
Regular programs include:
 
Community Kitchen 
  • Teaches preparation of nutritious meals to take home for the family
 
Cooking With Kids
 
  • Teaches parents to cook with children in the kitchen
 
Drop In Play and Learn Sessions
 
  • Offers structured and unstructured playtime and activities for parents and children to do together
 
Moms and Babes
 
  • Provides interactive activities to encourage mother and child playtime
 
Toy Lending Library
 
  • Lends a variety of toys and equipment such as playpens and strollers for use at home for a maximum of 2 weeks
 
Milk Coupons
 
  • Provides monthly milk coupons for pre/post natal families
Hours Office: Mon-Fri 8:30 am-12 noon, 1 pm-4:30 pm 
Program times vary; call office for monthly schedule

Aboriginal children 0-6 years of age and their families
 
Parents/family members are required to: 
  • Be a registered member of Couchiching First Nation 
  • Attend all activities with children 
  • Be a member of the Toy Lending Library

  • Pre/post natal parents 
  • Parent/s are required to attend all activities/workshops related to pregnancy

Must be a resident of Couchiching Reserve; does not require membership in the program
