HoursMunicipal Office: Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm 
Transfer Station and Landfill sites: Mon-Fri 8am-5:30pm; Sat 9am-4:30pm; Sun 12noon-4pm
DescriptionResponsible for facilities and operations of solid waste and recycling collection and related services 
  • Operates the transfer station facility and the landfill site 
  • Monitors the Tri Municipal landfill site after hours
 
Clear Bag Program
 
Provides volunteers with clear bags to encourage collection of litter from public areas
 
Electronics Recycling
 
Accepts electronics for recycling at the transfer station
 
Give Away Days
 
Asks residents to place operational items no longer wanted at curbside with a "free" sign for community members to pick up; operates a minimum of 4 Saturdays during warmer months
 
Hazardous Waste 
  • Holds an annual household hazardous waste collection event at Transfer Station, usually in August, to enable individuals to dispose of unwanted hazardous household products 
  • Provides an online list of acceptable waste
 
Kenora Reuses 
  • Promotes waste reduction by operating a website for selling, trading or giving away reusable items 
  • Encourages posting reusable items on KenoraTrade.com
 
Solid Waste and Recycling 
  • Provides residential solid waste collection on a weekly basis 
  • Provides residential recyclable collection through blue boxes on a bi weekly basis 
  • Accepts collection of recyclables at Transfer Station 
  • Posts collection schedules online 
  • Posts lists of acceptable/non acceptable items for both solid waste and recyclables online

  • Solid Waste Transfer Station (Dump and Recycling) is located at 401 Mellick Ave 
  • Solid Waste Landfill Site is located on Hwy 671 (Jones Rd), 12 km N of Hwy 17A 
  • Tri Municipal Landfill Site is located on Hwy 17E, approximately 2 km outside city

All residential garbage bags must have municipal tags attached; available at City Hall and various locations
