Description (Service)
  • Focuses on increasing public awareness on the benefits of physical activity 
  • Motivates individuals to become more active through promotional material and various campaigns 
  • Partners with local organizations to offer a broad range of physical activities
 
10,000 Steps Campaign
 
Promotes a walking program which encourages individuals to take more than 10,000 steps per day
 
Active Schools 
  • Works with Ontario Physical and Health Education Association (OPHEA) to provide on-going educational opportunities to assist with the delivery of health and physical education curriculum 
  • Supplies schools with "Busy Box" resource kit which includes equipment, props and activity ideas for indoor and outdoor physical activities 
  • Provides local schools with an "Active Schools Resource Box" which includes over 25 resources for teachers in planning structured and/or fun physical activities and intramurals
Hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am-12 noon, 1 pm-4:30 pm
