Description & Services
Description (Service) Assists children, adolescents and their families who may be experiencing emotional, social, and/or psychological problems in their school, family and/or community life 
  • Provides consultation, training and public education 
  • Supports and guides parents concerned about child's early development and/or behaviour 
  • Works with Toronto Sick Children's Hospital to offer psychiatric counselling via video conferencing 
Responsible for the administration of the following programs: 
  • Early Years 
  • Intensive Therapy Services Program 
  • Youth Justice
Services provided are tailored to the needs of each client, and may include:  
  • Development of treatment plans 
  • Family Counselling 
  • Group Counselling 
  • Individual Counselling 
  • Linkages with health, financial, educational, services in the community 
  • Psychometric Assessments 
  • Support and assistance with behavioral problems
Provides assistance with concerns related to: 
  • Anger management 
  • Attachment 
  • Bereavement 
  • Bullying 
  • Communication skills 
  • Family functioning 
  • Grief 
  • Loss/separation/divorce 
  • Relationships 
  • Sexual abuse 
  • Social skills
Mobile Crisis Services 
  • Assists individuals who are struggling with thoughts of suicide 
  • Provides immediate crisis assessment and intervention 
  • Conducts a suicide risk assessment 
  • Connects individuals with appropriate services 
  • Assists with the development of a treatment plan 
  • Partners with district school board to provide services during a traumatic event
The Arson Prevention Program for Children (TAPP-C) 
  • Provides strategies to deal effectively with fireplay or firesetting 
  • Coordinates a home visit from the fire department to assess the fire safety of the child's residence  
  • Conducts a risk assessment to determine the potential for the child to be involved with fireplay or firesetting in the future 
  • Provides instruction on the dangers of fireplay or firesetting

  • Children and youth experiencing mental health issues; no formal diagnosis required 
  • Mobile Crisis Services are available to respond to individuals who live in the district
