Description (Service)
  • Provides individual and group consultations on the nutritional needs of individuals and provides education and information on how to reach their goals 
  • Offers nutrition awareness education for community members 
  • Develops and delivers nutrition programs as requested by community members and health care providers
 
Addresses topics that can include: 
  • Cancer and gastrointestinal problems 
  • Diabetes prevention and management 
  • Food budgeting and understanding food labels 
  • Healthy cooking, vegetarian cooking, tips and recipes 
  • Healthy eating and lifestyle 
  • Nutrition for expectant and breastfeeding moms 
  • Nutrition review and requirements for infants, children and youth 
  • Traditional food, nutritional value and preparation 
  • Vitamin and mineral deficiencies
Hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4 pm
Areas Served Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation ; Little Current ; M'Chigeeng First Nation ; Sheguiandah ; Sheshegwaning ; Whitefish River First Nation ; Wikwemikong ; Zhiibaahaasing First Nation
Eligibility
  • All Manitoulin First Nations and the off-reserve Aboriginal population 
  • Consultations available for individuals and groups
Application
  • Requires booked appointments for nutritional consultations 
  • Arrangements are made with Health Centre reception
Languages English ; Interpretive Services - Ojibway, available upon request
