Public Comments Programs offered at Manitoulin Secondary School, Little Current Public School, Espanola High School and within the communities of United Chiefs and Councils of Mnidoo Mnising
Description (Service) Offers a culturally appropriate program to Aboriginal children and youth in elementary and secondary school as an Extra Judicial Measure (EJM) 
  • Teaches young people to be responsible community members and to use their leisure time wisely 
  • Encourages community involvement 
  • Encourages victim reparation through apology, community service hours, restitution etc 
  • Provides participation opportunity for victim 
  • Addresses behaviours and factors leading to the crime to determine areas of required services 
  • Provides the 10-session program 4 times per year and a fifth session on Anger Management and Traditional Ways once per year

Areas Served Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation ; M'Chigeeng First Nation ; Sheguiandah ; Sheshegwaning ; Whitefish River First Nation ; Zhiibaahaasing First Nation
Eligibility
  • Anishinaabe youth 12-17 years of age 
  • Must belong to one of the member First Nations within the United Chiefs & Councils of Mnidoo Mnising Territory either on/off-reserve
Application Referrals accepted from Community Justice Program, the Court system, Probation services, Police, School Principals, and Community or Health Services for youth-at-risk and youth in conflict with the law
Languages English ; Interpretive Services - Ojibwe, available upon request
