Public Comments Ontario Aboriginal Housing Support Services Corporation, Board of Directors consists of 2 representatives from each of the following organizations: Ontario Federation of Indian Friendship Centres (OFIFC), the Ontario Native Women's Association (ONWA), and the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO)
Description (Service)
  • Provides safe and affordable, culturally appropriate housing to urban and rural off-reserve Aboriginal people 
  • Consists of new, affordable rental units, home ownership loans and repair funding
Administers the following programs: 
  • FIMUR Assisted Homeownership Program 
  • FIMUR Homeowner Repair Program 
  • FIMUR Rental Development Program 
  • Rural and Native Housing Program (RNH) 
  • Urban Native Housing Program (UNH)
Hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm
Areas Served Ontario ; Northwest region includes: from Wawa, White River, and Longlac in the east, to the Manitoba border and all the territory above the Albany River to Hudson Bay
  • Low and moderate income urban and rural First Nation (status or non-status), Inuit and Métis people living off-reserve 
  • Non-Aboriginal housing also available for non-Aboriginal people considered to be in CORE housing need in areas in Ontario with a population of 2,500 or less; call office for information
