Description (Service) Responsible for stimulating local economy and developing economic initiatives and opportunities for the community  
  • Provides information, training and educational workshops to enhance employability skills  
  • Posts employment opportunities in office  
  • Works to access funding for Band-owned business ventures  
  • Provides coaching in areas such as business plan development and assistance in obtaining financial support for people wanting to start own business  
  • Maintains local business directory  
  • Facilitates economic development strategic planning sessions
 
Economic initiatives Naotkamegwanning First Nation is involved with include: 
  • Employment of a territorial planning officer to enhance natural resource capacity and engagement with government and industry 
  • Assistance with the construction of a 10-unit seniors residence which opened in June 2009 
  • Participant of Miitigoog LP, a shareholder-managed Sustainable Forest License (SFL) signed with government of Ontario, Weyerhauser Co Ltd, several other First Nations and several forest companies and contractors, which gives Miitigoog LP the responsibility for all forest management aspects of the Kenora Forest
