Description & Services
Description (Service) Provides mandated protection services and programs to First Nations children and families
Offers the following services: 
  • Coordinates alternative care and customary care placements for children and youth 
  • Conducts intake assessments  
  • Investigates all reports of abuse and neglect  
  • Offers family relief and support  
  • Assists youth in planning for their future  
  • Promotes community awareness and education through workshops and seminars 
  • Hosts an annual traditional "Honouring Our Children" powwow 
  • Organizes seasonal feasts in different communities
Hours Office: Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm 
Emergencies: Mon-Sun 24 hours
Areas Served Grassy Narrows First Nation ; Washagamis Bay First Nation - Obashkaandagaang ; Wauzhushk Onigum First Nation ; Whitedog First Nation - Wabaseemoong Independent Nation, ; Whitefish Bay First Nation
Boundaries Can include other First Nation communities in Treaty #3 and Treaty #9
Eligibility Ages: 15 year(s) and under 
First Nations children and youth on/off-reserve in need of protection
Protection Services 
  • Mandated through Ministry of Children & Youth Services (MCYS): Naotkamegwanning First Nation, Wauzhushk Onigum Nation, Asubpeeschoseewagong Netum Anishinabek, Wabaseemoong Independent Nation and Obaskkaandagaang First Nation 
  • Mandated through Treaty #3 Chiefs and Service Agreements with Kenora Patricia Child & Family Services: Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation, Wabauskang First Nation, Migisi Sahgaigan First Nation, Ochiichagwe'Babigo'Ining First Nation, Shoal Lake #40 First Nation and Northwest Angle #33
Protection Services/After Hours Care
Requested through a Service Agreement with Sudbury & Manitoulin District Children's Aid Society and Northeastern Ont Child & Family Services Agency and Treaty #9 Chiefs of following First Nations: Mattagami, Mattachewan, Chapleau Cree, Chapleau Ojibwe, Brunswick House, Taykwa Tagamou, Wahgoshig and Constance Lake (pending the designation of Kunuwanimano Child and Family Services)
Application Intake Assessment required for all programs
