Description (Service) Responsible for stimulating local economy and developing economic initiatives and opportunities for the community 
  • Provides information, training and educational workshops to enhance employability skills 
  • Posts employment opportunities in office  
  • Works to access funding for band-owned business ventures  
  • Provides coaching in areas such as business plan development and assistance in obtaining financial support for people wanting to start own business 
  • Maintains local business directory  
  • Assists in the development of plans for the use of traditional lands for community members
 
Micro-Loan Fund 
Partners with Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund (NADF) in a micro-loan fund program to offer members an initial business loan of $1000 or less
 
Economic initiatives Lac Seul First Nation is involved with include: 
  • Joint ownership of Wataynikaneyap Power with 12 other First Nations and Goldcorps, to reinforce transmission lines to Pickle Lake and Musselwhite Mine and to construct new transmission lines north of Pickle Lake to service remote First Nation communities 
  • A Five-Year Forest Management Agreement with the provincial govt; Lac Seul company Obishikokaang Resources will manage the Lac Seul forest; agreement signed Jul 2012  
  • Assistance and business advisory for private businesses 
  • Lac Seul First Nation road reconstruction project 
  • Input on the Business Governance Project and the Organizational Review 
  • Assistance in plans for construction of several community facilities including arena/business conference centre, economic development building, and an elder & youth drop-in centre 
  • Advisory on the Lac Seul First Nation peacekeepers, a community safety patrol

Application Micro-Loan Fund 
  • Requires completed application to be reviewed for approval by Fund Committee 
  • Loan must be repaid within 24 months
