  • IFNA is a member of the Political Territorial Organization of Nishnawbe-Aski Nation (NAN) 
  • IFNA member First Nation communities represent Treaty #3, Treaty #5, Treaty #9 and the Robinson-Superior Treaty in Northern Ontario
Description (Service)
  • Provides technical and professional advisory services and training to enhance the overall management skills and opportunities of the Independent First Nations Alliance Area First Nations  
  • Promotes and supports sustainable land and resource development that will build each community's economic strength  
  • Assists in identifying and securing funding opportunities and other resources for community economic development  
  • Advises and assists in the creation of employment opportunities for community members  
  • Works with community economic development officers to develop factors such as diversified employment, skilled workforce, competitiveness, investment, research and industry
 
Current initiatives include but are not limited to: 
  • On-going discussions/proposals for First Nation owned transmission company and lines into the northern communities to replace diesel generation  
  • Mapping of traditional land-use pursuits 
  • New opportunities in eco-tourism
Hours Mon-Fri 9 am-12 noon, 1 pm-5 pm

Eligibility Must belong to one of the member First Nations within the Independent First Nations Alliance (IFNA)
Application Services are delivered to community members at the local level (Band Office)
