Description (Service) Responsible for stimulating local economy and developing economic initiatives and opportunities for the community 
  • Provides information, training and educational workshops to enhance employability skills 
  • Posts employment opportunities in office and on website  
  • Works to access funding for band-owned business ventures  
  • Provides coaching in areas such as business plan development and assistance in obtaining financial support for people wanting to start own business 
  • Hosts economic development strategic planning sessions 
  • Maintains local business directory 
  • Assists in the development of plans for the use of traditional lands for community members
 
Economic initiatives Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug is involved with include: 
  • Advisory capacity for Northern Store 
  • Assistance and advisory services for private businesses 
  • Advisory capacity for Cable/Internet and KMobile Cellphone Service 
  • Partnership with 11 other First Nation communities in the Wasaya Group Inc (WGI), who own several businesses including Wasaya Airways LP 
  • Joint ownership of Wataynikaneyap Power with 12 other First Nations and Goldcorps, to reinforce transmission lines to Pickle Lake and Musselwhite Mine and to construct new transmission lines north of Pickle Lake to service remote First Nation communities 
  • Assistance with on-going resource development discussions 
  • Participaton in a tripartite initiative with Sioux Lookout and Lac Seul First Nation (formed in Apr 2014) to construct a regional, cooperative food and goods distribution centre which would be located at the Sioux Lookout Airport and help supply nutritious, fresh and affordable food and consumer goods to the region, especially focusing on remote northern communities; funding and facilitation supports are available for the joint project through the Municipal Community Economic Development Initiative (CEDI)
