Description (Service) Provides alternative education for adult community members to obtain a high school diploma
 
Program objectives are as follows: 
  • Enable students to obtain secondary school credit courses in their home community  
  • Provide an alternative way to earn a provincial high school diploma (Ontario Secondary School Diploma OSSD)  
  • Promote First Nations culture
 
Program offers: 
  • A wide range of course selection delivered through Independent Learning Centre (ILC) and the Cooperative Education Program 
  • Upgrading and education opportunities through the Wahsa Distance Education Program, the Lakehead Public Schools Distance Education program and Contact North  
  • Native languages courses 
  • Academic counselling and referrals to appropriate agencies as needed  
  • Participation in the mandatory Ontario Secondary Student Literacy Test (OSSLT) program 
  • All necessary school supplies and cost of basic student insurance
Hours Mon-Fri 8 am-12 noon, 1 pm-4 pm

  • Determine educational and vocational goals 
  • Review student transcripts 
  • Provide course counselling and course selection 
  • Establish a timetable
