Public Comments All post-secondary student services for Keewaytinook Okimakanak communities are administered through the Northern Nishnawbe Education Council (NNEC)
Description (Service) Offers an online secondary school program through Internet and other communication technologies for Aboriginal youth who wish to remain in their home community 
  • Offers a full Grade 9 and 10 program (academic, applied and locally developed courses) 
  • Offers compulsory and elective courses in Grade 11 and 12 
  • Offers some university preparation courses which allow students to meet requirements to apply directly to university after Grade 12 graduation 
  • Provides courses approved by the Ontario Ministry of Education and is authorized to grant credits leading to Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) 
  • Coordinates student participation in extra-curricular activities and community events in most communities
 
Class procedures are as follows: 
  • Students attend class all day at a designated KiHS classroom in home community 
  • An instructor teaches one subject to all students online 
  • A trained teacher/mentor provides assistance in the classroom 
  • Program is semestered and provides up to 8 credits per year
Hours Office: Mon-Fri 8 am-4 pm 
Classes: Mon-Fri 9 am-4 pm

Eligibility Must belong to one of the 13 member First Nations
