Description (Service) Empowers member communities and provides needed resources to conduct research on locally identified issues 
  • Promotes research priority issues in order to shape policy necessary to promote development and capacity at the local level 
  • Facilitates the process of developing research capacity at the community level to document and share community success stories that rely on the local knowledge and teachings 
  • Trains and employs community-based researchers who live, work and raise families in their respective communities 
  • Uses participatory action research (PAR) methodologies that speak to traditional knowledge and practices 
  • Partners with supportive academics such as universities, First Nation organizations and communities to conduct research in issues such as (but not limited to) telehealth, digital education, broadband migration and prescription drug abuse

Areas Served Deer Lake First Nation ; Fort Severn First Nation ; Keewaywin First Nation ; McDowell Lake First Nation ; North Spirit Lake First Nation ; Poplar Hill First Nation
Eligibility Must belong to one of the member First Nations within Keewaytinook Okimakanak Territory
