Description (Service)
  • Operates a public, newly-built, on-reserve school for elementary students (opened in Sep 2013)  
  • Offers a full curriculum for students from Junior Kindergarten (JK) to Grade 8 approved and inspected by the Ontario Ministry of Education 
  • Promotes Ojibway culture, language and values; activities include ice fishing, snowshoeing, camping trips, tree sap gathering and maple syrup making and a Cultural Week 
  • Teaches Native language as a subject course 
  • Provides a hot lunch and 2 snacks daily for students 
  • Offers a computer lab, school gymnasium and library, cafetria, playgrounds, outdoor hockey rink, baseball diamonds and playing field 
  • Participates in the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) Canada Program which provides laptops and tablets to each child aged 6-12 years in the school as a learning tool 
  • Assists the children to plant/tend gardens and flower beds on school property
 
Special Needs Program 
  • Teaches literacy, math and life skills to students struggling with studies 
  • Students work in resource room on individualized programs
Hours School: Mon-Fri 8:30 am-12 noon, 1 pm-4 pm 
Band Office: Mon-Fri 9 am-12 noon, 1 pm-5 pm
