Description (Agency) Serves as a non-political Chiefs Council which provides support services to six First Nation communities

Description (Service) Serves as a non-political Chiefs Council which provides support services to 6 First Nation communities
 
  • Provides governance, political support and advocacy to Wabun First Nations in their quest to build self-sufficient communities 
  • Consists of Chiefs and representatives from each community  
  • Delivers programs and services through local community government  
  • Responsible for negotiations of major resource development agreements in the areas of mining and hydroelectricity 
  • Assists in Treaty Land Entitlement (TLE) claims for Wabun First Nations 
  • Publishes The Wabun Sun, a regional newspaper with news from all the member communities; paper and archives also available online
 
Provides technical and professional advisory services and programs in the following areas:

  • Aboriginal Skills and Employment Strategy (ASETS) - Mamo-Nuskomitowin 
  • Economic Development and Technical Services
