Description (Service)
  • Provides support through active listening and accompaniment to individuals and families facing a terminal illness 
  • Offers social, emotional and spiritual support while respecting independence and individual needs 
  • Assists individuals and families to face the stages of death and dying with dignity and respect through trained volunteers 
  • Recruits individuals who are willing and wanting help others with terminal illness 
  • Provides training with instruction including: palliative care philosophy, effective communication skills, and the bereavement process
Hours Mon-Sun 24 hours

Boundaries Hearst to Chapleau
Eligibility
  • Individuals and families facing a terminal illness 
  • Individuals interested in volunteering are required to complete a screening process

  • Individuals and families must be aware of the referral and desire services 
  • Individuals interesting in volunteering can contact the Volunteer Coordinator
