Description & Services
Description (Service) Observes, investigates and negotiates mining developments and other natural resource developments within the Wabun Tribal area traditional lands
  • Provides updated information about mining exploration and resource development to member communities 
  • Negotiates resource development agreements with major companies 
  • Maintains communication between companies and member First Nation leadership through Impact Benefit Agreement coordinators 
  • Assists community members in finding business and employment opportunities in associated mining projects
Resource development intitatives include: 
  • HydroMega Incorporated (water power projects and power houses along Kapuskasing River) 
  • Lake Shore Gold Corporation 
  • Liberty Mines Incorporated 
  • Northgate Minerals Corporation
Hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm
Areas Served Beaverhouse First Nation ; Brunswick House First Nation ; Chapleau Ojibway First Nation ; Flying Post First Nation ; Matachewan First Nation ; Mattagami First Nation
Eligibility Must belong to one of the member First Nations
Application Most services are accessed on a local level at Band Office
Languages English ; Interpretive Services - Cree, Ojibway; available upon request
