Description & Services
Description (Service) Organizes an annual event that addresses the health and wellness of Wabun youth
 
  • Provides programs and services for junior and senior youth over a two-week event 
  • Focus is assisting youth to connect/reconnect with their traditional Native culture 
  • Provides an opportunity for youth to become acquainted with other youth in Wabun First Nation communities 
  • Offers many of the programs and services with the assistance and guidance of Wabun elders
 
Activities and events can include: 
  • Drumming circles 
  • Traditional teachings 
  • Sessions and workshops in areas such as drug and alcohol issues, suicide and social youth issues, and life skills
Hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm
Areas Served Beaverhouse First Nation ; Brunswick House First Nation ; Chapleau Ojibway First Nation - Chapleau Ojibwe ; Flying Post First Nation ; Matachewan First Nation ; Mattagami First Nation
Eligibility
  • Must belong to one of the member First Nations
     
  • Junior youth: 8-13 years of age 
  • Senior youth: 14-18 years of age
Application Registration for Youth Gathering is made through each community's Band Office
Languages English ; Interpretive Services - Cree, Ojibway; available upon request
