Description & Services
Description (Service) Assists children, adolescents and their families who may be experiencing emotional, social, and/or psychological problems in their school, family and/or community life
 
  • Conducts assessment 
  • Provides intervention services including individual and family counselling, group work, school and community programs, education and training, advocacy and referrals  
  • Supports and guides parents concerned about child's early development and/or behaviour 
  • Works with Toronto Sick Children's Hospital to offer psychiatric counselling via video conferencing
 
Responsible for the administration of the following programs: 
  • Child and Family Intervention 
  • Early Years
 
Community Support 
  • Provides support to children and families by addressing community needs  
  • Identifies children and families who may require services to prevent the need for more intrusive services later 
  • Delivers a wide range of community prevention programs and family support activities
 
Special Needs Program 
  • Offers case management and mental health services for children and youth with special needs including emotional, developmental and/or intellectual problems 
  • Provides support to parents/families in accessing other resources and financial assistance 
  • Offers advocacy on behalf of clients/families for other services
Hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am-12 noon, 1 pm-4:30 pm
Areas Served Attawapiskat First Nation ; Fort Albany First Nation ; Kashechewan First Nation ; Moose Factory ; Moosonee ; Weenusk First Nation
Eligibility
  • Services are provided for natural and foster families with children younger than 18 years of age and experiencing mental health issues 
  • Must be a resident of one of the member First Nation communities
 
Special Needs Program 
  • Children and youth who have physical, intellectual and developmental delays and/or disabilities and mental health disorders

Languages English ; Interpretive Services - Cree, Oji-Cree; available upon request
