Description (Service) Responsible for stimulating local economy and developing economic initiatives and opportunities for the community 
  • Provides information, training and educational workshops to enhance employability skills 
  • Responsible for development of plans for the use of traditional lands for community members 
  • Works to access funding for band-owned business ventures  
  • Provides coaching in areas such as business plan development and assistance in obtaining financial support for people wanting to start own business 
  • Maintains local business directory
Ensures that the Impact Benefit Agreements are adhered to by the following parties: 
  • DeBeers Canada on the Victor Diamond Mine 
  • Ontario Power on the Lower Mattagami projects 
  • Detour Gold on the Detour Gold Mine project
Provides economic expertise to local business initiatives including: 
  • Amisk Construction 
  • Apitisawin 
  • Coral Rapids Power 
  • Island Falls Forestry 
  • New Post Constructors 
  • Pahquataskkahmekook
