Description (Service)
  • Addresses and acts upon all housing issues and related requests  
  • Ensures that housing issues are effectively managed
 
Offers the following services: 
  • Provides recommendations and changes to the housing policy 
  • Receives and reviews applications for renovations, new housing units, housing loans and housing renovation loans 
  • Reviews rents to ensure payments are made 
  • Arranges inspections of rental units and community houses for maintenance, repairs and renovations 
  • Carries out annual maintenance and repairs on behalf of tenants and ensures work is completed 
  • Maintains a comprehensive database on all community housing units that includes information such as what programs were accessed for building and repairs, loans outstanding, services (water, sewer, roads) available, inspection reports, condition of unit, year it was built and other unit particulars
 
Also responsible for: 
  • Providing assistance in the development of community infrastructure including roads, bridges, buildings, subdivision planning and mapping 
  • Providing assistance in the long-term planning of minor/major capital projects 
  • Development and maintenance of all documents and forms related to housing including leases, releases and notices
 
Offers workshops for community members on housing related issues and may include: 
  • Housing Loan Program 
  • Managing Your Money 
  • Managing Your Credit 
  • Understanding Mortgages 
  • Better Builder Series 
  • Basic Home Maintenance 
  • On Reserve Housing Authorities 
  • Home Ownership and You 
  • Importance of Paying Your Rent
 
Moose Cree Market Based Housing
 
Provides assistance and advice for community members to access mortgages and loans in order to build, purchase, renovate or refinance homes within the community
Hours Summer Hours: Mon-Fri 8 am-12 noon, 1 pm-4 pm  
Winter Hours: Mon-Fri 8:30 am-12 noon, 1 pm-5 pm

Eligibility Members of Moose Cree First Nation 
 
Moose Cree Market Based Housing 
To qualify individuals must meet the following requirements: 
  • Good credit with Moose Cree 
  • Good credit with outside lenders (credit cards, car loans, bank loans) 
  • Must be employed for 2 years minimum 
  • Must have 5% down payment to qualify 
  • Able to afford to pay a loan with no assistance from Moose Cree 
  • Able to qualify for a loan with a participating lender
