Description (Service) Responsible for stimulating local economy and developing economic initiatives and opportunities for the community  
  • Provides services through the guidance and partnership with Waubetek Business Development Corporation 
  • Provides information, training and educational workshops to enhance employability skills 
  • Receives funding for local training initiatives from Gezhtoojig Employment and Training 
  • Posts employment opportunities at office and on website  
  • Works to access funding for Band-owned business ventures  
  • Provides coaching in areas such as business plan development and assistance in obtaining financial support for people wanting to start own business  
  • Maintains local business directory  
  • Assists with the development of plans for the use of traditional lands for community members
 
Economic and resource initiatives Magnetawan First Nation is involved with include but are not limited to: 
  • Development of a 5-year Economic Development Plan (April 2016 to March 2021) for the community 
  • Input for the on-going expansion of Hwy 69 into a four-lane highway 
  • Participates in the Quarry development project for a feasible on-reserve location 
  • Advisory capacity for local businesses including the Chip Shack 
  • Financial assistance for the Chip Shack for the purchase and installation of new appliances and to add water to the 
    building 
  • Advisory services and assistance with attempts to secure funding for the on-going operation of the local Walleye Hatchery 
  • Work with the Georgian Bay Coastal Trail system to have the trails extended to Magnetawan First Nation 
  • Assistance for the Anishinabek Ontario Fisheries Resource Center (AOFRC) with walleye habitat/spawning studies on the Magnetawan River
