Public Comments If a needle or sharp is found on private property, wear gloves and use tongs to pick up the item. Items should be placed in a hard container such as a coffee can and can be dropped off at the following locations:  
 
  • Household Special Waste Facility (May through October)  
    402 Fifth Line East  
     
  • Needle drop off box  
    Behind the Neighbourhood Resource Centre Sault Ste. Marie  
    138 Gore Street  
     
  • Needle drop off box  
    Located in the walking path beside the John Howard Society  
    27 King Street
Description (Service)
  • Removes needles, sharps, and broken glass from city and public property 
  • Provides needle disposal containers at local pharmacies for individuals to purchase so they can safely remove needles from their own property
 
Note: 
  • Individuals can call to report needles and syringes that need to be collected from public property 
  • Individuals can drop off discarded needles at the Household Special Waste Facility
