Fire protection services are contracted under Municipal Transfer Agreements: 
  • Rankin Reserve is serviced by the city of Saut Ste Marie 
  • Goulais Bay Reserve is serviced by the Goulais Bay Volunteer Fire Department 
  • Obadjiwan Reserve is serviced by the Batchewana Bay Volunteer Fire Department
Description (Service) Responsible for fire prevention and administration of the Ontario Fire Code 
 
  • Issues applicable burn permits required for brush piles, incinerators and open fires, excluding campfires 
  • Works closely with the volunteer fire department of Blind River
 
Provides the following services: 
  • Education  
  • Emergency planning  
  • Fire investigation  
  • Fire suppression  
  • Hazardous materials information  
  • Home safety which includes ensuring all homes are equipped (and annually inspected) with smoke alarms and charged fire extinguishers 
  • Response to mishap/accidents in Batchewana First Nation territory
