Description (Service)
  • Provides American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation - spoken English services 
  • Offers on-site or video remote interpreting (VRI) services 
  • Offers pre-booked daytime and emergency interpretation services
 
Will provide interpreters for various situations, including: 
  • Job interviews 
  • Medical appointments 
  • Business meeting 
  • Giving evidence in court 
  • Arranging a mortgage 
  • In crisis in a hospital, shelter, or police station
Hours Pre-booked interpreting services Mon-Thu 8 am-8 pm, Fri 8 am-5 pm 
Emergency Interpretation Services Mon-Sun 24 hours
Areas Served Algoma District
Boundaries Algoma District north to Hornepayne and east to Thessalon
Eligibility
  • Individuals or agencies who require interpretation services 
  • Emergency Interpretation Services: Individuals who are faced with sudden, unforeseen crisis that requires immediate attention
Application
  • Appointments are to be made through the OIS Scheduling Centre in Ottawa 
  • Pre-booked requires a minimum notice of 3 business days
