Description (Service)
  • Provides a free, voluntary and confidential service aimed at improving the safety of vulnerable citizens during emergencies 
  • Collects key information of those living at home who would be at greater risk during emergencies such as seniors, persons with disabilities or persons who have critical medical needs such as dialysis and oxygen  
  • Provides Information securely to local Fire, Police, and Emergency Medical Services in order to be more informed when responding to every day home emergencies (911) or large-scale emergencies where evacuation may be needed 
  • Provides Key information to the local utility company (PUC) and Canadian Red Cross if the registrant relies on electricity for life-sustaining equipment 
  • Equips registrants with information on how to prepare for emergencies
Hours Mon-Fri 9 am-5 pm
Areas Served Dennis Township ; Prince Township ; Sault Ste. Marie ; Rankin Reserve
Eligibility Ages: 18 year(s) and up 
 
  • Any resident within Sault Ste. Marie city limits without 24-hour support who experiences severe difficulty with any of the following:Mobility, vision, hearing, Developmental/intellectual, cognitive or mental health 
  • Any resident of Sault Ste. Marie, Prince Township, Dennis Township or Rankin Reserve  
    living at home who needs any of the following: Electricity for life-sustaining equipment, Life support such as oxygen and/or dialysis
 
Note:  
  • Anyone receiving care/assistance from a long-term care or supportive housing facility is not eligible to register 
  • Anyone receiving parent/guardian support will not be able to register except children with intensive needs for example requiring electricity for health sustaining devices
Application Interested applicants can register online at www.soovpr.com or they can print a form from the website and mail it directly to the attention of the VPR Coordinator<br />
